Nicola Glucksmann

Nicola Glucksmann is a relational therapist and partner of intheconsultingroom.com London.

After researching at Harvard, Nicola worked as a documentary producer and presenter for ten years. She has a strong interest in the power of narrative and the therapeutic challenge of redrafting the stories we tell ourselves about our own lives. As a film-maker she was known for her sensitive interviewing but, over the years, she grew uncomfortable with establishing intimate access to people's lives without a professional forum in which to pick up the pieces. In 1997, she decided to leave the BBC and independent sector and retrain as a Jungian Analyst at The Society for Analytical Psychology, She is also a member of The Site for Contemporary Psychoanalysis, UKCP, and BPC.

Despite her psychoanalytic training, Nicola specialises in short-term work and crisis intervention. She works with individuals and couples and, along with her partners Jane and Tanya at intheconsultingroom.com, she co-convenes Professional Development Groups for London physicians and psychiatrists. Nicola is also available for corporate and professional coaching and, where appropriate, she will see clients on site.

Nicola's clinical interests include the shadow side of professional success, the unforgiving power of unspoken shame, the hidden anxieties behind committing oneself to the written page, infertility, our own fear of other people's envy and the existential difficulty of being truly present. She works closely with both GPs and psychiatrists.
